On March 27, 2006, Earthlinks opened its doors to homeless and low-income people for the purpose of making Stone Soup for the tenth year. (l to r, front row) Carol Wiley (cq), Floyd Jenkins (cq), Mary Drazkowski (cq), Edith Crowley (cq), (back two) Bette Ann Jaster (cq), co-director, and Ricki Anderson (cq)gather around a table to chop vegetables and prepare herbs for the vegetable, chicken and beef broths. Each participant added one vegetable to the soup, which created a large meal for everyone. EarthLinks is a nonprofit experiential Earth-education organization that engages economically poor city residents in their relationship with the Earth. Through sharing experiences of the natural world, participants will hopefully gain a renewed perspective in their lives and act in ways that benefit both themselves and the larger society.
