Sandhill Cranes take flight Sunday morning March 12, 2006 in Monte Vista Colorado. The Sandhill Cranes stop in Monte Vista on their annual northward migration. Approximately 23,000 - 27,000 Sandhill Cranes stop in the San Luis Valley this time of year. They typically arrive in mid-February and leave by early April.
