A female shopper carries a small bag bearing the red star symbol of Macy's as she strolls through the cosmetics department at the retailer's flagship store in San Francisco, Ca. on Friday March 17, 2006. Macy's highest concentration of stores is in the state of California but plans to expand into Colorado this fall after acquiring all of the Foley's stores in Colorado. Robert L. Mettler became chairman of Macy's West in 2002 and previously had served as Sears, Roebuck & Co.'s president of merchandising for all full-line stores. Mettler is a 30-year retailing veteran who was president and CEO of Robinson's in Los Angeles, Ca. and has held various positions with Allied Stores Corporation and May Department Stores Company. Macy's has acquired the Foley's stores in Colorado and will begin operating the stores this fall. (MARC PISCOTTY/ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS) CQ
