Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Nov. 1, 2003. Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum. In May 1976, the Khmer Rouge established Tuol Sleng prison in what used to be a high school. Prisoners were interrogated, tortured, and killed. It is now a museum. The Khmer Rouge had kept detailed records of the prisoners, including these photographs now on display. Yumi Uchida, 25, a visitor from Japan, looks at a photograph of Lo Sim, one of the survivors of the prison. (Photo by ELLEN JASKOL/ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS)
