(Arapaho National Forest, Mt. Evans Wilderness Area, Colorado... July1, 2004) Arapaho Forest Service Ranger Travis Pellerin shovels a fourteener after six inches snow fell at the visitor center at the top of Mt. Evans road at 14,130 feet above sea level, shortly after the road re-opened Thursday afternoon. The road to the top of Mount Evans is the highest paved road in North America reaching 14,130 ft. above sea level. Visitors can hike several hundred feet to the summit of the mountain at 14,264.
