The Gathering Place, Denver's only daytime drop-in center for women and children who are experiencing homelessness or poverty, broke ground for a new 28,000 sq ft building Tuesday to replace their current 11,000 sq ft facility, which will be razed. Cleveland says that the Gathering Place helps her out a lot in her life. "Everything I need I can get here," Cleveland says. In the background are Ramona Gavin(cq), seated, and Yvonne Galvin(cq). In addition to some public funding, The Gathering Place has raised about $5 million in private funds for the project, according to spokesperson Terrell Curtis. (DAVID M.
