NYT51 - (NYT51) PALO ALTO, Calif. -- July 14, 2004 -- JOBS-MANSION-3 A Spanish Colonial home by George Washington Smith in Palo Alto, Calif., may be dismantled by Steve Jobs. Jobs, the chief executive of Apple and Pixar, has stated his intention to tear down a 17,000 square foot Mission Style house on a property he owns near Palo Alto, Calif. Local officials are threatening to block its demolition, saying the 78-year-old house, designed by George Washington Smith, has historic value. Jobs has agreed to paythe cost of moving the house if someone would buy it.
