(GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado... June 29, 2004) Twenty members of the Prineville Hotshots are doing fire abatement work, clearing brush from the area around communication towers on Lookout Mountain, outside of Glenwood Springs, Colo. They are stationed in Glenwood Springs for the next 14 days to be used in Colorado as quick response Hotshot crew for any new fire starts in the state. They will also be here for the tenth anniversary commemoration of the day 14 firefighters were killed on Storm King Mountain outside of Glenwood Springs, Colo. while battling the South Canyon Fire. On July 6, 1994, 14 wildland firefighters lost their lives on Storm King Mountain when the fire turned on them unexpectedly. Nine of them were crew members of the Prineville Hotshots.
