(DENVER, Colo., May 6, 2004) Tammi Rawlins (center) of Aurora plays with her son Tyler, 7, and daughter Mikayla, 13, at the home of her mom Vicki Noffsinger in Highlands Ranch Thursday afternoon. The two kids attended school in Highlands Ranch while Tammi was in Iraq and are finishing out the school year there so Tammi makes the daily commute to her mom's house to drop the kids off and pick them up after school every day. Rawlins spent 11 months in Iraq as a medic with an Army Reserve unit in some of the country's most dangerous hotspots. She didn't get to see her three children for the entire tour of duty except for a two week trip home at Christmas last year. She said, "I feel lucky that I can spend this Mother's Day with my kids and family". (Photo by MARC PISCOTTY/ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS)
