The U.S. Army is planning to expand a maneuver site and is considering condemning hundreds of thousands of acres of ranch land in southeastern Colorado in the Pinon Canyon region, including parts of La Junta. The military is "gonna take away more of how we make a living down here," Rafferty said. The third generation of his family living in La Junta, Rafferty said, "Everything goes away down here.
