The Saguache County Sheriff's Office confirmed this evening that Pueblo Community College President Mike Davis perished earlier today in a plane crash in southwestern Colorado. Dr. Davis was flying alone in his personal plane to Durango, where PCC has a branch campus. He planned to drive to Cortez for the opening of a new PCC office. Dr. Davis, 54, was a well-respected figure in the Pueblo community and was known for his strong leadership at PCC. He became president in 2001 and prior to that served as Executive Vice President and Interim President during 2000. He and his wife, Beth, moved to Pueblo from their home state of Indiana where Dr. Davis had been an administrator at Vincennes University. He served as Assistant Vice President for Instructional Services and Enrollment Management for four years. He also held several academic positions in the Social Sciences Division at Vincennes.
