RECOMMENDATIONS Immediate Action • Continue Neighborhood Small Projects funding for block- level improvements to public spaces with resident initiative. Implementing and/or Participating Agencies or Groups Residents Community Development Agency • Continue citywide tree and sidewalk programs with the Westside neighborhoods included as target areas. • Provide funds for continued community murals and art. Residents Community Development Agency Mayor's Advisory Council Department of Parks and Recreation Private Foundations Colorado Council on Arts & Humanities • Enforce more strictly the truck prohibition routes already designated on the Westside. • Enforce more strictly the already established City ordinances governing litter and weeds. • Institute neighborhood clean-up days to promote a sense of pride in the community and a cooperative effort between the City and residents. • Provide City trash dumpsters for those areas of the Westside that are still without them. Community Development Agency Department of Parks and Recreation Mayor's Advisory Council • Explore the possibility of developing a partially subsidized alley-paving program for low income homeowners. • Survey curbs and gutters for determination of needed repairs. • Complete the near Westside Storm Drainage Project - Phase II as a means of improving access and safety for pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists. • Encourage merchants and owners of commercial properties to better miantain their properties and provide trash receptacles. • Screen and "kid-proof" industrial/commercial trash dumpsters which are visible from adjacent residential areas. • Determine the location and intensity of radioactive deposits and once determined, implement a removal program. • Determine the extent of methane gas hazards so that proper removal or development controls may be implemented.
