Interior view of a wall mural and portion of a beamed ceiling in the Frederick Warshauer residence in Antonito, Conejos County, Colorado, depicts a Roman chariot race between two contestants each driving four horses; area filled with spectators and a trumphiful arch with charioteers on top; panels around this scene include portraits of Herbert Spencer, Abraham Lincoln, a classical figure, and Ralph Waldo Emersom; portions of a painting of the Coliseum and the Roman forum are depicted; oak wood trim on top of mural with carved egg-and-dart design; Yens Erickson, a graduate of the Paris and Copenhagen schools of art commissioned to paint murals directly on the plaster walls.
