Passing this train of Burros twice on the road going for and returning with supplies for the Engineers surveying the R. Road through to the Petrified Stumps to which from Denver the R. Road 58 miles is graded. 23 burros in this train. These Burros would not much keep still and are crowded together some. To get all could not be persuaded not to move. They are not vain, however and did not care how their picture looked, they wanted to go up the canon and see how nice the grass was up there and I don't blame them."; Handwritten on printed label: "R.
