Introduction
The Denver Post, Friday, August 2, 1929
List of All Colorado’s World War 1 Dead is Compiled
Location of the Burial Place of each Fallen Soldien Given.
Information Made Available Thru Courtesy of Congressman Eaton-Citizens May Know Where Graves are in France,
Belgium, England.
Thru the courtesy of Congressman W. R. Eaton and for the benefit of the relatives and friends of Colorado’s World War
dead, The Denver Post has obtained a list of the Colorado boys who sacrificed their lives during that great conflict and
whose bodies are buried in permanent American cemeteries in Europe. The list gives the location of the burial place of
each.
As soon as the war department announced that it had compiled a list of all of America’s soldier dead, Congressman Eaton
ordered a list made for Colorado. Following its publication in this issue of the Denver Post it will be incorporated in the
Congressional Record.
“In the winning of the World War,” said Congressman Eaton, “no state played a more notable part than did our own state
of Colorado. In no other state did the youth of the land respond more readily to the call of arms. And few states suffered
as severely in numbers making the supreme sacrifice.
“The graves of these heroes constitute a lasting tie between this nation and the nations associated with us in the late war.
They will be forever shrines to be visited by patriotic Americans who desire to pay tribute to the memory of these brave
boys.
“It is my purpose in securing this list from the war department to acquaint people of our state with the exact location of
each of these Colorado graves in France, Belgium and England.”
Following is the key to the permanent American cemeteries in Europe. Thru this key the exact location of each grave can
be determined on the appended list of the Colorado war dead:
