"February 23. At Denver, Colorado, the memory of Father Leo Heinrichs, O.F.M., Martyr.
He was born at Oestrichs, archdiocese of
Cologne, Germany, August 15, 1867, arrived at
New York, November 8, 1886, and entered the
Order of St. Francis, in the province of the Holy
Name, at Paterson, N. J., on December 4, 1886.
He was ordained Priest July 26, 1891, after he
had made his Profession December 8, 1890.
Whilst distributing Holy Communion he was
shot by an Italian (anarchist), in St. Elizabeth's
Church, Denver(, Colorado, on February 23,
