TOPS IN VALUES TOPS IN NEWS Vol. I No. 5 THE HILLTOPPER April 14, 1954Page 1 £a&bz/L AWARD IS MADE as. ■ ■ <*-^>ff^**fp} Two lonely and troubled msn walked <#©wn the dusty road to Emmaus, and they were troubled j because they had lost their Master and friend. They were ashamed because they had deserted their friend when He needed them. Now he was no longer with them. They had marveled as He preached the Good News, and healed the sick and broken-hearted. Now their hearts were broken. Suddenly they felt a Presence with them. Their hearts were mended and once again they felt the joy that the Master brings. Yet they did not recognize their Friend. How could it be; was He not crucified, dead and buried? They stopped for the evening meal, and as this stranger "Took bread and blessed it and broke it and gave it to them, "their eyes were opened and they recognized Him. "Did not our hearts burn within us while He talked to us on the road?" That's what Easter means. It says that we have the Christ whom men could not take away from us. God sent Him, how could men take Him away. He says, "Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world." And we believe Him, for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that Whosoever be- lieveth in Him shall not perish but have life everlasting. Isn't our walk through life something like the road to Emmaus? We get discouraged, our hearts are troubled and we reach out for some power that will lift Last week Roger Wilkoivski received his award for naming The Hilltopper The Rev. Vernon Myers, is youth director at St. John's Catheral which Roger attends. us up when we fall. Remember and be glad that Christ walks with us even as He walked with the two disciples. We will not recognize Him at first, even as they didn't. Yet, if we pause with Him and let Him take bread, bless, and break it for us, then we shall know and believe. Christ is risen indeed!!!!! In fact we are proud of Roger and several other outstanding young men of our parish. Thank you for the "Hilltopper."
