No. 47b Circle 'Jrive
Care Mrs. Verner Reed
Denver, Colorado.
My dear Peggy:
You certainly have a tremendous
power of description! I can really see gour view
from that top of the world you have managed to fall
in to- What are the dues of the Barbizon- I want to
know some thing about the business end before I go
in to such a thing T- or is it just a hotel- You
would be astonished how the hotela of New York are
dropping their rates and sending circulars out
west Now to the radio- I have that same advantage
here at Mrs. Reed!s- I do not wonder that you are
enthusiastic- I too- am the same- several weeks ago
I heard the Pop© - then an other day I heard the
meeting of the American Academy of Arts and Letters
from New York- when Arliss was presented with a
medal for the best diction of the American stage-
(Otis Skinner received the medal last year) etc.--
The radio is the wonder of the age- I simply marvel
at it every time I tune in- and then television wil
will be adjusted to the radio- Victor and telephone next autumn! think of that- to see those
persons to whom we are listening an other wonder
I really can almost believe in spooks after this
but to have the television on the telephone will
be rather awkward at times- however- we can turn
that off- as we wish I should like to run on to
New York for Easter- but feel that I must stick
right here- for several reasons -just now- I have
been stud^ ing Contract- also Backgammon and Keeno-
takes up a deal of one's time-too much -after a
fashion-there are so many more interesting things
to do- but-one must understand those games now
Too bad you could not stay at Palm Beach fo_r the
party- it would have been ,/crth while- I feel sure-
Why do you not cone out here- build a lovely snail
place at Broadmoor- it is so delightful there- so
smart and so different- interesting people there
especially in the summer- Gifford Cochran- brother
of Alec Cochran ?( who bought Clen Eyrie4died some
time ago in London?) also passed away- they ./ere
enormously wealthy- their money did not give them
any ha.ppiness Gifford Cochran also lived at the
Broadmoor- too much money- millions and millions-
You have had a frightf 1 e p ri n e wit t se
