APRIL 1978 ANNUAL MEETING thursday april 27 everyone welcome Capite-1 Hill, United Neighborhoods Inc. will hold its annual meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday April 27 at the Denver Botanic Gardens Horticultural Hall, 1005 York St. The business meeting will include committee reports, consideration of by-laws revision and election of the Board of Directors. The program which will begin at 8:15, will be'*The Cemetery and Ghosts of Capitol Hill: A Grave but Spirited History of our Neighborhood." Louise Ward Arps, a prominent Denver historian, will speak about the fascinating history of Cheesman Park, with emphasis on its role as Denver's first cemetery. Noted Capitol Hill psychic Janet Masoner will speak about her personal research, filled out by unsubstantiated gossip and folklore, regarding Capitol Hill ghosts and haunted mansions. Capitol Hill residents are urged to come and fcring their own stories, whether grave or spirited, to share. Call CHUN president Michael Henry for information or transportation, 832-5777. introducing. CHUN: - sponsors annual Capitol Hill People's Fair - publicizes the joys of urban life - knows how to get things done at city hall - fights for sound residential neighborhoods - works to attract healthy businesses to area - works to keep high-quality schools - cooperates with other neighborhoods to combat blight - monitors government actions affecting our area week in and week out, not just in crises - serves as clearinghouse for information about activities in east central Denver - working to eliminate some one-way streets - monitoring zoning changes and variances - successfully sponsored ordinance to stop spread of commercial parking lots - successfully pushed ordinance to preserve historic mansions - reviews social service problems - fights redlining in older neighborhoods - promotes education to prevent crime - unabashedly loves life in inner-city Denver - does whatever needs to be done to make our part pf tcwn DENVER'S GREAT NEIGHBORHOOD!
