ELECTION PROCEDURE
CHANGES PROPOSED
The April all-membership meeting will
be asked to consider an amendment to the
CHUN By-laws, designed to allow more democratic election of the Board. Sponsored
by Ted Gleichman and Bernie Jones, the
amendment would require that any person,
to be elected to the Board, would have to
receive a simple majority of the votes
cast. Presently, the organization elects
its Board by a single vote on the whole
slate of nominees.
The exact wording of the amendment is:
Article VIII, Section 3 - Elections. At
the end of sentence 7, which begins "The
election judges shall, as soon as practicable...", add: "provided that no member
shall vote for more nominees than the number of directors to be elected, and no
nominee shall be declared elected who has
not received a total vote equal to a simple majority of the ballots cast."
