CAPITOL HILL UNITED NEIGHBORHOODS
MINUTES
Board Meeting of April 24, 1975
The meeting was called to order by President Knop.
1975 officers were elected as follows:
President - Bernie Jones
1st Vice-president - Rhonda Knop
2nd Vice-president - Bill Pace
3rd Vice-president - Chris Blair
Secretary - Peter Weed
Treasurer - Patty Jackson
Rhonda Knop was acknowledged for her efforts as interim president.
It was resolved that the officers will meet prior to the next board meeting to form a proposal
regarding the function of the executive committee.
There was discussion as to the need for a parliamentarian.
It was resolved that the President of CHUN be authorized to pr epare a letter of
endorsement for the Capitol Hill Task Force (RTD) report of December 1974.
John Hand reported that the fair arrangements are proceeding admirably. He raised the
problem as to who would organize the function next year suggesting that CHUN needs to
make some considerations.
Bernie Jones asked that John make recommendations.
John further detailed the potentials for community coordination of extra-curricular use of public
schools. He stated that the school board might favor this approach if substantial local interest
is shown. Members were encouraged to show support by attending pertinent meetings.
It was resolved that Bill Pace make the necessary arrangements for the administration of
an insurance policy plan for neighborhood gardens subject to the provision that a share
of the policy costs will be reimbursed by each individual garden group.
The second Annual Capitol Hill Retreat is set for May 30 through June 1.
Barbara Holme reported legislative progress with regard to a lending institution pool arrangement
for the financing of mortgage and home improvement loans in older neighborhoods.
It was resolved that Sam Brown be placed as honorary board members.
