CHUN Board of Delegates Meeting
Capitol Hill Community Center
August 28, 1980
The meeting was called to order by President Marcia Hughes at 7*30
p:.m. after we introduced ourselves and gave accolades to Nancy Rettig
who has completed her position as Staff Coordinator and People's Fair
Coordinator. The following Board members were present: Lynn Adams,
Elizabeth Crawford, Pam Crouch, Elizabeth Dobrovolny, Patsy Frannea,
Bob Fullerj Scott Hardy, Michael Henry, Sharon Hill, John Hitch, Sarah
Hite, Bernie Jones, Tobi Kanter, Mark Korman, Sally Kurtzman, Jock
McNulty, Rosie Mahoney, Jan Moore-Kirkland, Martin Pato, Dan Paulien,
Joyce Thornf Also present were Ann Albrecht, Sgt. C. T. Smith, Aaron
Littlejohn Jr., Meg Nagel, Charles Sterrett, Nancy Rettig, Barb Martens,
James Roderick, Meredith McBurney.
The minutes of July 24 were accepted as written.
Staff Coordinator. The Executive Committee interviewed five candidates "ToT~^ta^F^o^rdTnat or. It recommends Meg Nagel who has worked with
the Colorado Open Space Council, has organized volunteers, workshops and
is highly qualified. Dan Paulien moved that the Board formally hire Meg
Nagel as CHUN's staffperson for $8000 per year for 3/4 time. She would be
an employee of CHUN with Social Security and insurance benefits. The
position is for one year, to be reviewed at that time. The motion was
seconded and carried.
Officer Reports.
President and Vice President for General Meetings. Lynn Adams
moved that Paul Mahoney, with Tobi Kanter as alternate, be recommended
from CHUN to the Denver Water Board Citizen Advisory Committee. The
motion was seconded and passed. September 9» 10 and 11 HUD is sponsoring
a conference on grantsmanship. Meg Nagel wiil attend. Concerned Citizen's
Congress (a.: NE neighborhood group) is having it's kick off meeting for
it's third annual convention on September 4. The "Stop Violence Against
Women!" rally is September 18. The October 23 Board meeting will be
combined with the General Meeting on CHUN priority setting. October 2
is the tentative date for a CHUN sponsored Candidate's Forum at the
Unitarian Church. Tobi Kanter, Dan Paulien, Lynn Adams, and Michael
Henry will assist. The November Board meeting will be held November
13. Marcia encouraged Board members to call the office if they are
unable to attend a Board meeting.
Vice Prsident for Membership. Jan Moore-Kirkland announced a
Membership Committee meeting September 8 at 7s30 pm. Tobi Kanter,
Elizabeth Dobrovolny, Joyce Thorn and Scott Hardy will serve on this
committee.
Treasurer's Report. Jock McNulty circulated CHUN's Financial
Statement. Balence m checking account 7-24-80 was $269.41. Receipts:
Membership - $1461 Rent - Denver Walking Tours - $138.51? Transfer
from People's Fair Account - $2000; for a total of $2284.51. Expenditures
totaled $1970.02. Total cash-on-hand on August 27, I98O, including
balance in saving's account and People's Fair account (excluding People's
