CHUN Board of Delegates Meeting
December 14, 1978
Capitol Hill Community Center
The meeting was called to order by President Dan Paulien at 7:30 p.m.
Board members present were Gordon Appell, Mel Carter, Dene Clark,
Ray Fisher, Hugh Gardner, Micnael Henry, Jim Kill, John Hi ten, Sarah
hite, Marcia hughes, Bernie Jones, nose Kapelezynski, Gerri Lane,
Paxil Mahoney, John Ozello, Bill Pace, Jo Ann Soker, Joyce Thorn,
Charles Trainer, Mark Thomas and Norma uldharn. Others present were
Jock McNulty, Janet Moore-Kirkland, Sharon Judd, Bernard Tessler,
Dennis Pimple, Leon Sanders and Amy Roosevelt.
The agenda and the minutes of October 26 were approved.
Dan announced that Rhonda Knop has resigned from the board^ Board
members from CHUN areas 1,8,and 9 are needed. Michael Henry moved
that Leon Sanders of 1139 York and Janet Moore-Kirkland of 1080
Downing be elected to the board. The motion was seconded and passed.
People's Fair Committee to disperse Fair Funds made the following
recommendations:
1. THK Associates, Inc. for trees in the St.John's Cathedral &250
North Project
2 •■ - Bif Mamma Rag, a women's newspaper, for paper boxes 250
3* Western States Film Institute for production of public service 450
announcements for some community organizations
4. Metropolitan Community Church of the Rockies for 4 editions 360
of the Love Letter, a gay publication
5. CKAPA - to continue projects & pay rent until grants secured 500
6. Warren Village for play equipment & buildi:.e materials to 500
improve the toddler's play area
7. Prodigal House for Christmas gifts for residents 490
8. Eggplant Press for community seminars in print & electronic 238
media to be sponsored by CHUN
9. Sta-Well News toward publishing costs. This publication con- 900
tains ideas & notices about health for seniors
10. East Central Community Center for janitorial services 800
$4,738.
Michael Henry moved that the board of delegates accept and ratify
these allocations. The motion was seconded and passed.
Bernie Jones moved that Norma Oldham be elected as People's Fair
Chairman. The motion was seconded and passed. The People's Fair
will be held May Jtffcand^JS at East High School. Budget and Selection
Committees are formed.
East Central Community Center. Bill Pace discussed the remodeling
plans. This project includes expansion of the garage, rewiring and
plumbing, having a second stairway. The first floor will be made
accessible to the handicapped. Present plans call for construction
this spring. Morey Wolfson has been hired as Director. It was the
board's concensus that it preferred the name Capitol hill Community
Center. Bill was commended for sticking with a difficult project.
Announcements. Dan showed the Denver Atlas which was done by the
geography department of D.U. and the Denver Planning Office. It is
available through D.U. for $4.50.
